After the two former NYPD detectives appeared on Good Morning America this morning the story is starting to get picked up all over the country.
Here’s the Fox News report. Another report here out of NYC. This site lays it all out in chilling detail, including this statement:
“…the smiley face gang would plant evidence such as wallets or cell phones far away from where they actually dumped their victim’s unconscious bodies in the water, local police following up on the missing person’s reports would assume the young men were accidental drowning victims instead of deliberate murders.”
It all sounds so bizarre. But so did the Manson, Son of Sam, Bundy, and Dahmer cases.

Police have ruled Josh Szostak’s death an “accidental’ drowning. There may be more to the story though.
While cops in Albany are shutting the door shut on Josh’s death a report is out this week that two former NYPD detectives have been investigating dozens of similar disappearances across the country.
And hereis part 2 of KSTP’s story in which the Josh Szostak case is mentioned at the very end. This after my on-air conversation with KSTP reporter Kristi Piehl on Friday.
The two former NYPD detectives who are looking into these “accidental” drownings are also scheduled to make an appearance on Good Morning America. Also scheduled - a news conference in NYC Monday.

So far, only two other local media outlets (aside from myself and WGY) even consider the Szostak death “news” anymore. Cap news 9 did a story based on my conversation with Josh’s father Bill. Check it out here. However, the piece contains no mention at all about the investigations of other similar “drownings”.
Fox 23 also did a story. You’ll find it here. And they are now reporting that there will be a 2nd autopsy.

There may be other cases that are also strikingly similar. David Reilly, although a bit older at 30, still has not been found.

Adam Falcon, of Victor, Ontario County, was a third-year student at St Lawrence University when he drowned in the Grasse River near the Canton, N.Y. campus in 2004.
At the time, his death was ruled an accident; but, now, two retired New York City detectives wonder if Falcon was murdered.
The detectives are investigating the deaths in rivers of 40 young men around the country. Due to the timing of the deaths, they believe a group of serial killers may be responsible.
Good Morning, America featured this story on Monday morning. In that broadcast, the detectives said all of the victims are young, male, athletic college students with high GPAs.
They speculate that the men are separated from their friends. Most are last seen at or leaving a bar.
Falcon’s blood alcohol level at autopsy was .21 percent.
Officials also believe the men’s deaths are connected because, in many instances, a smiley face was found drawn near the scene. They did not say whether or not such a symbol was found in Falcon’s case. STORY LINK

Could there be a calculated, cross-country plot to kill young college men, including some in Minnesota? It seems a little hard to believe, but two New York detectives say they can prove it. “Chris was abducted in a cargo van,” she said. “He was driven around Minneapolis for hours and tortured. He was taken down to the Mississippi River and he was murdered. And after that, his body was positioned and taken to a different spot and then to a different point in the Mississippi River,” she said. Gannon and Duarte say they’ve discovered a link between Jenkins’ death and the drownings of at least 40 other men in 25 cities in 11 different states.
It began in New York
The investigation started 11 years ago in New York when then-Sgt. Gannon made a promise to the parents of Patrick McNeill. Patrick McNeill was last seen at a New York City bar in 1997. His body was found 50 days later, 11 miles downriver. “We knew it wasn’t suicide,” said Patrick McNeill’s mother Jackie McNeill. “It was one of those things where he walked out and was never seen again.” One of the only things comforting the McNeills is Gannon, a decorated officer with a long history in the New York City Police Department. “I told them I would never give up on the case,” Gannon told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS. When Gannon retired, he devoted his life to keeping his promise to the McNeill family.
“We’ve been doing this on our own, our own finances,” Gannon explained. “We’ve never taken a penny from any of the families. I personally have mortgaged my own home to investigate this.”According to Gannon’s ally, Duarte, this is almost ‘a perfect crime’ because the water washes away any physical evidence and there are never any witnesses. Almost all of the men are last seen by friends leaving a bar or college party. Local police have investigated the deaths and the FBI has even taken a look at the cases.
In every case except for the Jenkins case, local law enforcement has ruled the death an accident.
“I think it is a serial killer, but not one individual. I would just say, a group of individuals, probably located in more than one state,” Duarte said, adding that he thinks they may kill again. While most local investigations focused on where a body was recovered, Gannon and Duarte tried to figure out where the body went into the river. City after city, when they’d find the spot where the body went in, they would find something else: The symbol of a smiley face. “It’s very disturbing,” Duarte said. The paint color and size of the face varies, but the detectives are convinced that it’s a sick signature the killers leave behind. STORY LINK

Smiley Face Murders - The Smiley Face gang have committed 40 murders in 11 states with the loose-knit gang of killers leaving a smiley face and mystery clue where they dumped each young man in the water, including the breakthrough clue, Sinsinawa.
The Smiley Face murders were cracked by retired NYC detectives Kevin Gannon and Anthony Duarte who conducted their own investigation into the random murders of young men last seen leaving bars or college parties before going missing and being found drowned months later.
In their investigation of the gang of smiley face killers, the detectives made a chilling discovery as they backtracked from where each victim�s body was found to where they believe it was placed in the water.
At many locations, they found a smiley face painted on a nearby rock, often with smiley face gang member�s nicknames added as graffiti, and obscure clues like �Sinsiniwa� that they found while looking into a Michigan drowning case.
The detectives were puzzled by �Sinsiniwa� and couldn�t figure out the obscure clue until they went to Dubuque, Iowa a few months later to investigate another possible smiley face murder, that of a college student named Matt Kuzinski whose body was found on Sinsiniwa Ave.

In fact, 39 of the 40 cases investigated by retired NYC detectives Kevin Gannon and Anthony Duarte are still classified as drownings and only one, that of Chris Henkins of Minneapolis, has been labeled a homicide.

The smiley face gang is loosely connected via the Internet and various members meet up, kidnap young college-age men off the street by throwing them into a waiting cargo van, then torture their victims for hours before dumping the unconscious young men into a nearby river.
The smiley face and associated graffiti is their method of bragging about what they�ve done and the water washes away all the DNA evidence.
There may be many more victims and retired detectives Gannon and Duarte have gone public with what they know in hopes of getting an FBI task force assigned to catch these killers.

And now this outrage with apparently many serial murderers. The scenario reminds me of one gawdawful gory film “Hostel”, which, although I shudder to recommend it, is truly disturbing and now, possibly truth based.
This story was all over the Albany press on Friday , as that’s where the first victim lived. I heard the mother of O’Neill speak on WGY and LEO Gannon. It’s a story that breaks your heart and infuriates you at the same time.
God speed Duarte and Gannon on this case — and lets’ hope a rich guardian angel takes them under his/her wing and funds them with whatever they need, as obviously the System is incompetant in finding the ghouls who perpetrated these ghastly crimes. –Al Czervic
Let me note at this time: No firearms were used in the crimes. If the victims were armed, the outcome may very well had been different.

My hobby is astrology. I’ve been researching the subject for 18 or so years, unfortunatly, up until 2003 I wasn’t focusing on terrorist

up until 1984, when he merged the company with another and he was forced out of business, when he had a heart attack 1987.
Anyway, since then, I found out the Nazis’ and a terrorist group
called, “The Black Hand” used astrology.
Their mechanism seems to be ‘light’, But that doesn’t mean their is anything to it. Light and water is for plant life- not for humans.
You always start with Sun and go two times the distance in degrees from the Sun to the moon. If the difference is 60 degrees from the
Sun to the Moon, you go another 60 degrees and split the horoscope in half.
The San Francisco Zodiac’s first attack is said to be on October 30,
1966. The Book, “Interrupted Journey”, a story about the Betty and Barney Hill UFO Abduction case came out in October, 1966.
The story had been out for several years before the book had been
published.
The “Mike Douglas Show” interviewed the authur on Oct 25, 1966,
five days before the first zodaic attack in Riverside, Ca.. If you do a horoscope for the UFO abduction, September 19, 1961 at around 10:30 pm, somewhere on ‘rte 3′ in New Hampshire, the day the zodiac attacked Oct 30th, 1966 the transit creates a Grand Trine on the chart. On February 16th, 1997, Patrick Oneill walked out of the bar on 92nd 2 Ave in Manhattan and disappeared. I used 11 pm- The
horoscope looks like a “Smiley”, Mars and the Moon are the eyes,
and the planets from Pluto at 5 degrees Sagittarius to Saturn at 5 degrees Aries creates what would at first glance look like a smile.
But in astrology, the chart is upside down so its an unhappy face.
Mars is almost in exact opposition to Saturn. Mars is Male and Saturn is connected to Karma (supposedly). So an underage drinker
leaving a bar drunk, might suffer consequences.
I think someone was in the Bar and convinced the bar tender
he was drunk, under age, and maybe followed him out or someone
was waiting for him outside the bar..
Also, they seem to be creating a UFO abduction scene. They create
a trail going one way and the body is found way off in another direction. As if the person was abducted by “Aliens” and then dropped off in the river, where he drowns.
The Flying “Triangle”, which is the most often “UFO” reported to
MUFON nowadays, is seen, mainly in the same states as the smiley
gang has drowned people in.

Is there a link to Satanists here? The “Son-of-Sam” murders proved to be linked to a ring of Satanists, and the “smiley face” was also found in graffiti associated with the location of the meeting place in a NYC park. No one seems to know for sure, but is there evidence of homosexual rape on the corpses? This again would tie it to Satanic ritual rape on the dark altar before killing the victim and drinking their blood. Satanism seems to be the “elephant in the room” in back of these stories.

In a letter to the New York Post dated September 19, 1977, Berkowitz repeated the possessed dog story, but closed out his missive with the warning, “There are other Sons out there — God help the world.”[59]
In later years, he has discussed the cult claims in greater detail, but alleges that he cannot divulge all he knows without putting his family at risk. The cult had roughly two dozen core members in New York — the “twenty-two disciples of hell” mentioned in the Breslin letter. Berkowitz reportedly invited the former priest and exorcist Malachi Martin to visit him to discuss his past Satanic cult involvement.[60]
Hockenberry asserts that, even aside from the Satanic cult claims, many officials doubted the single-shooter theory, writing, “[w]hat most don’t know about the Son of Sam case is that from the beginning, not everyone bought the idea that Berkowitz acted alone. The list of skeptics includes both the police who worked the case and the prosecutor from Queens where five of the shootings took place.”[1]

Journalist Maury Terry began investigating the Son of Sam shootings before Berkowitz was arrested. Doubtful of the single shooter theory favored by police, Terry dug deeper into the case, noting a number of unresolved questions and inconsistencies that he first publicized in a March, 1978 newspaper article.
Eventually interviewing Berkowitz several times, Terry uncovered evidence that he argues strongly support the idea that a violent offshoot of the Process Church was responsible for the Son of Sam murders and many other crimes. After consulting with police and agreeing to withhold some names and other details, Terry publicized his conclusions first in a series of newspaper articles distributed by the Gannett syndicate in 1979, and later in his book The Ultimate Evil, which has been expanded several times since its 1987 publication.[52] Queens’ district attorney John Santucci, who thought the case against Berkowitz was riddled with inconsistencies and unresolved questions, was so impressed with Terry’s research that, as Chris Summers of the BBC writes, “he agreed to reopen the Son of Sam case … But to date no-one else has ever been charged in connection with the crimes.”

In October of 1978 Berkowitz mailed a book about witchcraft and other occult subjects to police in North Dakota. He had underlined several passages, offering some marginal notes, including the phrase: “Arliss [sic] Perry, Hunted, Stalked and Slain. Followed to Calif. Stanford University.”
Arlis Perry, a newlywed 19-year-old North Dakota native, had been killed in a chapel on the grounds of Stanford University on October 12, 1974. Her murder remains unsolved. Berkowitz also mentioned the Perry murder in a few letters, suggesting that he heard details of the crime from “Manson II”, the culprit. In the San Jose Mercury News, Jessie Seyfer noted that “investigators interviewed him in prison and now believe he has nothing of value to offer” regarding the Perry case.[61]
[edit] Real-life sons of Sam
Berkowitz claimed that brothers John and Michael Carr — the real-life sons of Yonkers resident Sam Carr — were members of the same Satanic cult. John was the “John Wheaties, rapist and suffocator of young girls” mentioned in the Breslin letter.
Both Carr brothers came to violent deaths within two years of Berkowitz’s arrest. John Carr was discovered dead in February of 1978 in his girlfriend’s North Dakota home; police initially viewed his death as suspicious, but it was ultimately ruled a probable suicide. Michael Carr died in a single-car traffic accident in October 1979, on Manhattan’s West Side Highway.
Berkowitz claims that both Carr brothers were probably murdered by Satanic cult members because their heavy drug use marked them as untrustworthy and likely to become informants.

Very creepy! Several blogs have added A LOT of info to what the Jenkins family and Gannon had to say. The Sope-Bocks blog has a list of names, a couple of theories and lots of other stuff. I’m printing it out, so I can cross-reference what that guy has written. I think he missed some things, but he does have some of the most in depth data available right now.
Huffpo and a coupla others are developing the story, too. I think the bloggers are going to break this case wide open.
Just wanted to put out there that a couple of months ago i had a close friend die suspiciously. He was found in a creek outback a bar where he and a bunch of my friends had been partying. Police say when they searched the place that they found a smiley face spray painted under the bars outside deck. I wouldn’t doubt it either. I’m going up to confirm it today.
